Doctor Zala does a great job.
When one hears him speaking with his warm voice, one can not be but moved by so much humanity. He is a good, humble and generous man, who has won all my sympathy and love.
When I asked him about his sole preoccupation and on the fact that he had done his pediatric training in France, he replied very simply:
“If I have had the good fortune to become a pediatrician, it is not because of my parents. They did not have the money. But my country offered me a scolarship and paid for my studies in France where I obtained a doctorate. Of course I could have stayed in France, but I felt that it would not be honnest with regard to my country if I did not return there.
One must know that in my country there is only one doctor for 30 000 inhabitants!
I am, in any case, of much more use here than in France where there are already many doctors. I also thought that it was not ’correct’ to stay in France just for financial reasons. It was not sufficient for me to foresake my roots.
I therefore belong here. I am not wealthy, but neither am I unhappy. I think I am doing a good job and if I had to start all over again, I would gladly make the same choices.
I am useful for a precise reason. It is the most important thing for the engaged Christian that I am, because Jesus said : < < I have come into this world to serve and not to be served...>> And this is what drives me on in my work.
Moments in the life of Lassara ZALA :
After these poignant words that I felt right down to my heart, I decided that I would adopt these Children suffering from the Noma as the cause of my life.
